Tooling projects become more predictable when commercial speed is supported by disciplined technical inputs. The useful opportunity is not simply faster cutting; it is a cleaner transfer from design intent to manufacturing evidence.

Control the current revision

The RFQ should identify the current CAD and drawing revision, units, material state, hardness target, surface requirements, and any approved deviations. Mixed revisions are a common source of avoidable rework.

Separate critical from reference dimensions

A focused list of fit, sealing, alignment, shutoff, and wear-related characteristics helps the manufacturer plan processes and inspection without treating every dimension as equally risky.

Define the records before production

If material records, hardness results, CMM output, or focused dimensional reports are required, include them in the quote scope rather than requesting them after production.
